DescriptionThe Oregon plant of W. R. Grace & Co. manufactures fine
chemicals for a broad range of pharma, biotech and nutraceutical
customers and specialty catalysts for polyefins and specialty
chemicals. We are currently seeking a Instrumentation Technician to
enhance our dynamic team. This position is responsible for
implementing and maintaining best practices to continuously improve
facility instrumentation, controls, electrical requirements, and
associated costs. The focus of the position will be on
coordinating, directing, implementing and sustaining strategies
around the facility's instrumentation and controls programs
including its reliability and management of
changes.Responsibilities
- Perform instrument calibrations, including temperature,
pressure, flow, and other variables.
- Manage the site's instrument and controls program, developing
and improving instrument capabilities, reliability, and PM
requirements.
- Serves as the subject matter expert for all I&E efforts
including assessing recommendations with sound practices,
identifying necessary improvements, and tracking action items to
completion.
- Completes various small capital instrument/controls projects
including equipment improvements or replacements, safety or
environmental projects, and any other identified improvement
projects.
- Recommends instrument/controls systems' modifications and/or
replacement to improve plant performance.
- Remains up-to-date on technology as it pertains to instrument
and controls reliability.Required Qualifications
- Solid experience and skills with typical instrumentation
equipment, calibration tools, etc.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and
written.
- Be computer literate with fluency in spreadsheets, Microsoft
office, Controls programming logic, and AutoCad for instrument
loops.
- Must have a solid understanding of instrument and controls
programs typically required in a manufacturing/chemical processing
environment.
- Must have a solid understanding of OSHA safety requirements and
direct experience with handling safety controls systems along with
safety interlocks.
- Degree and/or Certification desired. Training, Certification,
and Experience can be considered in place of Degree.
- Must have 8+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing
environment
- Solid experience and skills with typical instrumentation
