Job Description:

Oregon Freeze Dry is seeking an experienced, energetic QA Compliance Supervisor to lead, organize, direct and train our Quality Assurance department.

Oregon Freeze Dry develops and manufactures products for industrial ingredients, private label, the U.S. military, and our brand Mountain House. Mountain House Adventure Meals--- is the market leader in sheer sales volume in North America for its segment. OFD is located in Albany, Oregon, the heart of the beautiful Willamette Valley, just minutes from the Cascade Mountains, the sandy beaches of the Oregon coast, and the popular Portland-metro area.

An ideal candidate for this position has excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, is comfortable leading and guiding alongside other supervisors and managers, respectfully challenges others, and applies regulatory knowledge while continuing to train and motivate.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Supervises and oversees daily activities of the QA Compliance Team by providing leadership, direction, coaching and support for QA staff in their respective area(s) of expertise
  • Acts as the subject matter expert in microbiological controls relative to the food-manufacturing environment as well as regulatory and customer compliance.
  • Uses leadership skills to assist QA Department staff in root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventative actions
  • Ensures that environmental monitoring programs are conducted in accordance with company policy, regulatory requirements, and/or agreed upon customer expectations.
  • Applies knowledge of regulatory references, guidance documents, internal policies and industry standards.
  • Manages and assigns action items as the result of audit findings.
  • Continuously strives to identify potential areas for improvement in the QA Department, in alignment with the QA Department strategy, and communicates areas for improvement and proposed solutions to the Manager, Quality Assurance or designee.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Requires a bachelor's degree in food science or related field and/or related certification.
    • 5 years of experience in supervisory or leadership roles in a food-manufacturing environment required.
    • Understanding of standard microbiological laboratory practices required.
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate external audit protocol and methodologies; knowledge of FDA (food) and USDA compliance requirements and audit procedures.
    • Understanding of FDA and USDA regulatory compliance, food processing procedures, and GMPs.
    • Demonstrated strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Must have reliable transportation, and hold current, valid drivers' license and provide proof of current automobile insurance to transport self between company facilities during work hours, as needed, and transportation to and from off-site company events.

      SALARY:

      $70,600 - $88,200 (DOE)
